HOSPICE OF JESUS DIVINO PRESO FOUNDATION

The Foundation Hospice "Maite de Crespo" is located in the San Fernando neighborhood in Sangolqui, south of Quito, Ecuador. It was built in 2001. The home has 5 houses, each with 3 bedrooms, 3 baths, kitchen/diningroom, small social areas, outdoor laundry and yard. In each house live 8 children accompanied by a surrogate mother, an "Aunt".

We also count with a large purpose room, administrative wing and kitchen, a storage area and an area designated for psychological consultation.

Our staff include both full and part time personal at the service of the children: Director, Administrator, Psychologist, Educator, Social Worker, Aunts (home mothers), Doctor, Accountant, Advisory Legal, Cook, Guard, Auxiliary of kitchen, Auxiliary of maintenance, Commissions of Support, and Volunteers.

FORMAL EDUCATION

All the children are enrolled in schools and receive tutoring when necessary.

NUTRITIOUS DIET

The children receive 3 balanced meals a day, proper for physical and mental development.

HEALTH CARE

The children receive periodic physicals, vaccinations, medical attention and psychological evaluation and assistance.

FORMATION

We try to instill in the children a value system which includes respect for selves and others, generosity, camaraderie, human solidarity and spirituality.

ACTIVITIES

The children visit their parents every 15 days and we prepare them for the reinsertion into their families and into the society at large.

We provide them with varied activities, from gardening to games and sports.

At present there are 42 boys and girls and we have taken in over 200 children through the years.
